If you are 18
to 30 years of age then there is plenty of support to help you
progress into Higher Education and once you are over 21 it’s even
possible to access HE without traditional
qualifications!
There are
many different routes into HE with part-time, full-time and a range
of Access courses (for those over 21 returning to learning) to help
you achieve a Higher Education qualification.
Here are some
HE entry ideas:
- Apprenticeships...can be
taken at several levels. They are planned with the Sector
Skills Council (www.ssda.org.uk) to ensure the course
content fits with the industry sector, so that you will be
well-prepared for work. For further information visit www.realworkrealpay.co.uk
- Foundation
Degree...you may be able to use your prior knowledge and experience
to gain entry to a new Foundation Degree. Visit www.foundationdegree.org.uk
or click here for more information.
- HNDs and
Degree...there is a wide range of subjects to study at HND and
Degree level. For further information visit www.ucas.com
- Distance
Learning...allows you to study in your own time and HE
qualifications can be obtained while you are employed
e.g. through the Open University. You do not need traditional
entry qualifications, but you do need to be computer literate and
capable of studying alone. You will also need to attend some
week-end/vacation workshops. For further information visit www.open.ac.uk and www.ucas.com
