Q. What is
Aimhigher?
Aimhigher is
the name of the project working to widen participation in Higher
Education for more young people and adults - especially 18 to 30
year olds.
Our aim is to
encourage those, who might not normally think that Higher
Education is for them, to think again. We offer a range of
support via projects to raise awareness, aspiration and
achievement.
The Aimhigher
Lincolnshire and Rutland team works in partnership with schools,
colleges, work-based learning providers and employers to help young
people and adults make the right choices about Higher
Education.
Q. What is
an Apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships are
nationally designed training programmes that are available
for fourteen year olds, young people and adults. They were
introduced in 2004 to replace the existing Modern
Apprenticeships.
Young people
and adults are taught new skills within a framework agreed with
employers which is set against national qualification and work
standards. Learners have the opportunity to learn on the job, build
up new skills/knowledge, gain qualifications at Level 2 or 3
and earn money.
